DC TV Classics 12 – Revisiting ‘Smallville’ with Al Gough

“This week, DC TV Classics is crossing over with The Nerds of Color’s Hard NOC Life podcast to bring you part two of Keith’s one-on-one conversation with Smallville co-creator Al Gough! At The Nerds of Color, Al and Keith discussed the need for more diversity in Hollywood, the creation of the AMC martial arts epic Into the Badlands, and Al’s experience working with Hong Kong cinema superstars like Jackie Chan and Jet Li. For DC TV Classics, the two of them take a deep dive into the history of Smallville, The CW show that kicked off the network’s current superhero boom. Al shares anecdotes from the casting of the show’s iconic leads to working with Christopher Reeve and how Smallville compares to the current TV incarnations of the DC Universe.

Even though it was canceled after one season, Matt Ryan’s instantly iconic portrayal of John Constantine has led to a guest appearance on Arrow and the show’s resurrection as an animated series on CW Seed. Keith, Britney, and Desiree share their thoughts on why the show only lasted 13 episodes, its erasure of the lead character’s sexuality, and whether the show fits into The CW’s DC TV Universe.

DC Films Podcast – Episode 25 “Black Adam Movie & Green Lantern Corps Shortlist”: The whole gang’s here, folks!! This week, we address a rumor concerning the return of Jared Leto’s Joker and the cryptic pictures he has been posting on social media lately. Could we be seeing the Joker sooner than we think? Possibly. Is Jared Leto extremely attractive? DEFINITELY. (Sorry, Jess is writing this.) In other news, it has been officially announced that Black Adam will have his own movie, this after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had been cast in the role for the Shazam! movie. Looks like we’ve got a lot of DC films to look forward to. Speaking of which, Green Lantern Corps is slated to be released in 2020, but a casting shortlist for Hal Jordan has already been released. The list consists of Armie Hammer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, Joel McHale, Tom Cruise, and Ryan Reynolds. Who do you think should be cast as Hal Jordan? The hosts let us in on their thoughts. They also discuss the writers for Green lantern Corp, David Goyer (Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers…yeah I’ve never heard of it either). DC TV Classics 05 – “Young Justice Returns”: DC TV Classics took an extended break but like Young Justice, we are back! Monday, September 26, 2016 – DC TV Podcasts, a podcast network for multiple high-quality DC Comics TV dedicated podcasts, is expanding with an eighth podcast that is all about taking a trip down memory lane in the DC TV world: DC TV Classics!

DC TV Classics is a fan podcast devoted to iconic and classic TV shows based on characters of DC Comics that happened long before today’s modern DC adaptations on television. Shows such as The Adventures of Superman, Batman ’66, Wonder Woman, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Smallville, Batman: The Animated Series, and more favorites will be covered on this podcast.

DC TV Classics will be helmed by a trio of hosts featuring new voices to the DC TV Podcasts Network: Keith Chow (Founder of The Nerds of Color), Britney Monae, and Ken Knudtsen who will now be joining forces to cover old-school DC TV shows! The podcast will begin on Sunday, October 2 with the release of their first episode, and new episodes will be released twice per month as the hosts take a look at the DC TV legends that came before.
